Employees within a single company today are more diverse than ever, in terms of age groups, profiles and experience, but also of their relationship to work—especially since the Covid pandemic. This represents a real challenge for managers, who have to contend with a wide variety of situations. In this context, the authors invite us to cultivate a managerial approach based on empathy. Through attentive listening, it is indeed possible to better perceive the expectations of each team member, in order to account for them as effectively as possible, as well as to identify the strengths that each can contribute to the collective. The book first puts recent developments in the working world into perspective: “the great resignation”, “quiet quitting”, etc. It then proposes a wide range of responses, successfully tested by major companies such as Starbucks and Amazon, but also by SMEs at the forefront of the empathetic management revolution.
