The diversity—in expertise, experiences, professional or national surroundings—is often the source of innovation. The confrontation of perspectives and knowledge stemming from different horizons is a powerful incentive for creativity. The author nonetheless underlines that this is only true when the teams know how to develop a real “cultural intelligence”, that is the capacity to understand their differences and to take advantage of them. This is not easy, whatever the good will of the stakeholders. David Livermore examines the conditions for the development of this cultural intelligence. In the second part notably, he highlights the main obstacles brought by cultural diversity at the different stages of the production and sale of one’s ideas. The reader will not find great revelations in this book, but a good reminder, clear and pragmatic, of the way to operate to take advantage of diversity.
