Migrating to the circular economy? Yes. But how? Peter Lacy and Jakob Rutqvist are specialists in this field at Accenture and participate in several international think-tanks on the topic. They know everything of the challenges faced by large organizations, often willing to act, but deeply anchored in economic models that intensively use natural resources. In this book, they thus recall why the topic should be treated as a priority by business leaders and, most importantly, they explain how to concretely go about it.
They first demonstrate, with supporting data, why the current “extract – produce – dispose” model will soon be obsolete. In the second section, they describe five possible strategies to engage a transition towards circular economy. Each is illustrated by several multinational case studies—IKEA, Procter & Gamble, General Motors, Electrolux, Caterpillar, etc.—, and also by emerging players that propose disruptive models. In the third section, they advise the leaders who would want to start: what questions to ask, what capabilities to reinforce in the company, etc.
A pragmatic, action-geared book.
