The swing into a radically uncertain and shifting universe carries with it a consequence for every manager: the new need to constantly adapt to novel situations, without being able to count any longer on tried-and-tested recipes—but, instead, by imagining new approaches. In this sense, creativity is no longer reserved for certain professions or functions—marketing, R&D—and is now everyone’s concern. To meet this challenge, Terri Griffith suggests a mantra: “Stop-Look-Listen”. In other words, staying in touch with our environment to pick up on early signs of change, and anticipate it rather than endure it. Concretely, she suggests developing our routines for observation, taking a step back, questioning, and dialogue with an extended and diversified network.
