This practical guide on self-confidence is a work by a collective of coaches and psychologists.
Their outlook is rather original: they invite us to consider our lack of self-confidence as an asset, because it is a powerful lever of development. Indeed, a person with low self-confidence will often seek to improve and learn—whereas a very or over-confident person might neglect to be well prepared to face eventual challenges.
The authors strive to negate a preconceived idea that could be damaging for us: it is useless to seek a permanent state of self-confidence. It varies according to the events or the topics. We better aim to avoid moments of doubt hampering us. The book also warns us on the danger of a work on oneself that would lead us to be too self-centered. Being more attentive to others might suffice to make the difference for a successful interaction!
One of the keys in developing self-confidence relies on the move into action. But how to do that, when we precisely lack in assurance? The authors invite us to identify the smallest possible step, in order to dare taking it?and thus anchor in our brain the habit of action, then rely on the appraisal of thus-made progress to feed the dynamic.
A concrete book, easy to read, in which everyone will find useful advice.
