In this book, the author explores what influences the enthusiasm that employees put into their work. He structures his message around seven dimensions, each of which is covered in a separate chapter. Among these dimensions, for example, we find fair compensation, development opportunities, being recognized for one’s work, the workplace atmosphere, etc. These dimensions are, in themselves, well known, but the author explores them in great detail and highlights the corresponding pitfalls into which organizations may easily fall. Particularly interesting are chapter 2, which concerns the sense of being fairly compensated, and chapter 6, which addresses recognition. Examples drawn from companies regularly ranked among the “world’s best places to work” are cited in support of the overall message.
