It is a well-known fact that globalization and technological disruptions are forcing companies and their staff to reinvent themselves more often. But how do you reinvent yourself throughout your professional life? By striving to become, every day, a “dynamic learner”, according to Bradley R. Staat, a professor at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. A dynamic learner focuses more on the learning process than on the outcome when getting a job done. Yet, instinctively, we tend to do the opposite.
A specialist in learning and cognitive sciences, the author has identified eight behavioral patterns typical of champions of learning. For example, they are more likely to take risks, learn more from their mistakes, more readily challenge the status quo, show more curiosity and critical thinking, seek inspiration from others to learn, etc. Over the course of a dozen solid chapters, Never Stop Learning demonstrates how we can get inspiration from them.
A must read for any leader or manager who wants to place learning at the heart of his/her organization or team. At a personal level, this book will benefit individuals who want to develop their ability to learn.
