The art of execution lies in ensuring that hundreds of small decisions made by players in the field converge to breathe life into the strategy. Hence, successful strategic execution particularly requires that the organization provide people with the information, tools and processes they need to make decisions. Based on this hypothesis, the authors organize the book around three essential processes. First, take account of changing local contexts and what is going on in the different parts of the organization. Second, analyze what is happening and understand, for example, why the strategic plan is being challenged in a particular part of the organization. Finally, plan next steps. This book is illustrated with many examples, and offers particularly helpful reproductions of reporting system screens and strategic roadmaps, giving a very practical dimension to the authors’ message.
