Summary
Women CEOs remain the exception. Why? Studies conducted by The Boston Consulting Group show that companies suffer from a loss of talented women throughout the ascendancy of the hierarchical echelons. Hence, to improve gender diversity at the top, it must be tackled from the first levels of management, to maintain a quality pool of women candidates for higher positions. The reports’ authors highlight different causes for this attrition: persistent stereotypes, bad management of career interruptions, etc. Based on company case studies, they share examples of initiatives to remedy this situation.
