Summary
The authors present the results of a survey of primarily company leaders and middle
managers on the role and performance of front-line managers. The conclusion is that frontline managers are rarely found to be satisfactory, but also that leaders and middle managers don’t pay enough attention to give them what they need to improve! In particular, the authors point out the potential benefits on performance of providing these managers with the means to coach their subordinates.
