Summary
A growing number of companies are committing themselves to selecting their suppliers according to social and environmental criteria. A laudable principle, but not always an easy one to put into practice, as shown by the feedback put forth in this article. Indeed, no matter their good intentions, suppliers run into many difficulties in improving their own environmental and social performance. What’s more, they themselves depend on their own subcontractors. This article insists on the need to create a sense of responsibility and a roadmap shared with suppliers in order to move forward in concert.
